Riffle

Terms of Service

Effective 10 August 2026 · Last updated 10 August 2026

These terms govern your use of the Riffle app. Please read them — by using Riffle you agree to them.

1. Agreement

By downloading, installing or using Riffle you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app. If you use Riffle on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation.

2. Who may use Riffle

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Riffle only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

3. What Riffle does

Riffle turns study material — a photographed page, a lecture you record, a file you upload — into written notes, and turns those notes into flashcards scheduled for review. Notes, decks and review history are stored on your device. Generation runs on our servers because it requires model providers we pay for.

Riffle keeps working without us. Reviewing, editing and reading what you have already made are on-device features and continue to work offline and during any outage of our service. Only generation requires our servers.

4. Your account

Generation requires an account created with Sign in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for maintaining access to the sign-in method you choose and for activity that occurs under your account. Tell us promptly at aristides@aristidesstaffieri.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

5. Subscriptions and billing

Riffle Plus is a recurring subscription that unlocks generation. Some accounts receive a small one-time allowance of complimentary generations so the app can be tried before subscribing; without an active subscription or a remaining complimentary generation, generation is unavailable.

Generation allowance

An active subscription includes a monthly allowance of generations, which resets each billing period and does not roll over. Text-based material is priced by its length, so a long lecture may cost more than one generation; the app shows the cost and your remaining allowance before you spend it. If a generation fails, the allowance it consumed is returned.

6. Your content

Material you capture, upload or write in Riffle is yours. We claim no ownership of it.

You grant us a limited licence to process that material only to provide the service to you — transmitting it to the model and transcription providers listed in our Privacy Policy, generating your note or cards, and returning the result. We do not use your material to train models, and we do not publish or share it.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

You are responsible for having the rights to any lecture, book, document or recording you put into Riffle.

8. Generated content is not reliable by itself

Notes and flashcards are produced by an AI model and can be wrong. They may misread a page, misinterpret a recording, omit something important, or state something confidently and incorrectly. Check generated material against your source before you rely on it, and never rely on it as medical, legal, financial or other professional advice. Riffle is a study aid, not an authority.

9. Availability

We do not guarantee that generation will be available at any particular time. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the service, and we may impose or adjust rate limits and allowances to keep the service running for everyone.

10. Termination

You may stop using Riffle at any time and may delete your account from Settings in the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms or if we are required to by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law — do survive it.

11. Disclaimers

Riffle is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that generated content will be accurate or complete.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of Riffle. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty-five US dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of material you submit to Riffle or your breach of these terms, including claims that your material infringes someone else's rights.

14. Apple

These terms are between you and us, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for Riffle or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and material changes will be surfaced in the app. Continuing to use Riffle after a change means you accept the updated terms.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be brought in the courts located there — except where the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
